Mendoza
Mendoza, the wine mecca of Argentina
Since the Jesuits cultivated 500 years ago here in Mendoza the first wine, there was a very strong performance in terms of quality and quantity. The dry climate (it rains throughout the year as much as in Buenos Aires in a week!) And the Protection and melting water are the Andes offer the perfect conditions for good wines.
Course must on my trip around the world in 2014 a wine tasting not missing and the wine waiter in Maipu, near Mendoza load really about this one. On an afternoon tour 2 wine waiters (one with industrial processing and the second with traditional) and visited an olive factory.
The first goal was the Bodega Lopez, a brand that is present in all supermarkets in Argentina.
In the months of February and March As is taking place the wine Leese, I was lucky enough to see all the machines work. Here the trucks come fully loaded with grapes on.
In the first step, the grapes are freed from the stalks and dirt.
Mendoza is especially famous for red wines, both for the grape variety Malpec as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, but isolated white wines are processed.
Internationally, the Argentine wines have long made a very good reputation, especially depending on currency fluctuation, they have a very good price-performance ratio.
Other economic sectors
Although of course the wines of Mendoza have made famous, the most important industry is the oil industry, as you can see on the hills the derricks that promote oil.
Furthermore, more grown agricultural products such as olives and other fruits. So we visited a factory where we got to know the process of Ölivenölproduktion and then tasted different variants such as olive oil with garlic and oregano flavor.
Sierra de Cordoba
The Sierra of Cordoba
The Sierra of Cordoba is the perfect place to escape from city life. Here in the countryside, among hills, rivers and reservoirs are found at once some German colonies!
German settlements in the Sierra de Cordoba
If you drive through Villa General Belgrano de, makes you feel like a tourist in mountain village in Bavaria and Austria.
Here in the Sierra de Cordoba around the turn of the century German and Austrian immigrants have settled and built buildings like in their home. At the same time in other traditions held as the Oktoberfest, which has now become a very popular event arriving to the drinking Funny from all over the country. This of course souvenirs like beer mugs are available in abundance!
The second colony in the Sierra of Cordoba called La Cumbrecita, literally translated "small peak". This village is a little higher and offers apart from a typical village life also nice hiking trails around where you can visit waterfalls, etc.. Unfortunately we had to cancel our little family trip due to heavy rainfall.
In this area there are two reservoirs, which are equipped with barbecue facilities on the shore. Many locals here have house boats floating in the water, the ideal Wochenendhäußchen.
It will probably not be a coincidence that once settled here the Central European immigrants, the landscape looks vieelen areas in Germany and Austria really very similar!
The climate with about two to three summer months and a cold winter is similar, if somewhat milder in the cold season. This year it has been raining heavily in February, so it came to flooding.
Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa - Die von Sierra Cordoba
Santa Rosa de Calamuchita is a small village in the province of Cordoba, about an hour's drive away is the provincial capital of the same name. Tourists come here mainly from Buenos Aires to recover from the stresses of city life and to make their beloved asado. The rivers are crystal clear and the reservoirs are used in the hot summer to cool off. Here you will find then the Argentines with their camping chair in the river bed sitting with her mate in his hand.
Accommodations
I had the good fortune to come under the scope of my trip around the world in the best hotel of the town. The accommodation Nuba Cabañas are newly renovated and equipped with everything a few quiet days to spend in the country. By chance are the owner of this hut my friends, two Argentinians I've met in Barcelona.
From here you can make excursions to neighboring villages or climb the Calvary in about 30 minutes walking.
From the top you have a beautiful view of
the village and the surrounding Sierra of Cordoba.
Food in Argentina
Food in Argentina
p
In my world trip in 2014 I had the good fortune to taste a lot of local food especially in Argentina, since my girlfriend Marcela has cooked for me. In general, the food in Argentina plays a very important social role, as you invite friends and family to an asado again.
Asado, the Argentinean grilled meats
Probably the most popular foods in the Argentine is the beef that you usually grilling, what one calls Asado. Almost all supermarkets offer a wide range of fresh meat.
For large events the whole animal is grilled slowly, a procedure lasts several hours.
Almost all parts of the cow are verwerdet and the big difference between European and Argentinean beef is how it is cut and cut.
The influence of Italian cuisine
Italian immigrants at the time have also brought their penchant for pizza and pasta, so you can enjoy these dishes überaall in various variants in Argentina. The best tasted my homemade gnocci of Marcela and Mauri.
The major competitor of Hamburg is the lomito, a kind of warm sandwich with beef, ham, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and mayonnaise.
Sweet on Sweet
The second great culinary passion of Argentines are sure the sweets of which include most of Dulce de Leche, a caramel cream.
Furthermore, there is in every bakery a wide variety of cakes, biscuits and chocolate .... who we not this weak?
Very famous are the Alfajores, 2 cake slices filled differently (usually with Dulce de Leche) and coated with white or dark chocolate with or without Nußsträusel.
Mate
Now I must write a few lines to the national drink Mate course also. Here is a slightly bitter herbal tea, which is drunk around the clock. The Argentines also constantly carry their thermos around with it. The tea is drunk from a vessel that is made out of a pumpkin. You take a metal straw that includes a screen below. Drinking is seen is socially very important and the vessel is passed.
Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires - The Facts
With nearly 3 million inhabitants in the city proper and about 13 million in the metropolitan area, a third of all Argentines live here! The capital is divided into 48 districts and lies at the mouth of the Rio de la Plata, the estuary of the rivers Parana and Rio Uruguay.
Our short visit
We saw our 2 night flying visit to meet with mixed feelings. Of course, a trip to Argentina is not complete without the capital Buenos Aires to visit, but teeming pickpockets etc. so we have ergiffen certain security measures and, for example, remained the great camera and all credit cards and other valuables in the hostel.
But we were lucky and our visit coincided with the only introduced in the same year holidays together, so that the otherwise bustling city was almost deserted, no traffic, no harried workers and many closed shops.
Der Buenos Aires Bus
The Buenos Aires Bus a typical hop on hop off bus seemed like the perfect solution to as many impressions in a little time to get.
In a very pleasant way we were driven so over 3 hours through the city and were able to take a closer look at the most interesting sights throw.
Buenos Aires Must See
The Cemetery in the Recoleta district is probably unique in the world. Here were many famous Argentines such as President and stars their final resting place, is very often visited the grave of Evita Peron.
One of the landmarks of Buenos Aires is the Obelisk, of one of the widest avenues in the world, the Avenida 9 de Julio ziehrt.
The Plaza de Mayo houses some interesting buildings all around and is always the scene of numerous demonstrations and protests, because here also the Pink House, the President's seat is to be found.
The Theater Colon is according to the Sydney Opera House, the second largest theater in the southern hemisphere.
Most guide books recommend the visit of the district of La Boca for security reasons. Especially the area around the famous stadium La Bombonera Football Club Diego Maradona, Boca Juniors is particularly dangerous. We visited it without leaving them only with the tourist bus.
El Caminito within the same district is the oldest pedestrian street in the world and boasts a colorful houses. Earlier immigrants were housed here in this district and because they had no money to stroke their homes, color was used which remained from the painting of ships.
The Floralis Generica is a sculpture in the form of flowers which can be closed depending on the time of day or lit up with different colors.
The teueste and most modern area of Buenos Aires is undoubtedly Madero Port, the former port where the brick buildings have been converted into luxury lofts and countless hotels and skyscrapers arose.

Iguazu Falls - Argentina
A highlight of my trip are the waterfalls of Iguazu!
Eckdaten Iguazu
The waterfalls of the Iguazu River form a natural border between the region of Misiones in Argentina and Paraná in Brazil.
The entire complex consists of 20 large and about 255 small waterfalls, a natural spectacle that is sure unique in the world!
The individual falls are 64 to 82 feet high.
The Argentine side of the Iguazu Falls
With the purchase of the ticket you can visit the complex with 50 per cent discount on the next day. A tag is namely really too little to all corners of the Erkunden zu Iguazu Falls National Park.
There are three main routes, the Paseo Inferior, from where you can view the falls from below, the Paseo Superior to admire the view from the edge and the web of the Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat), in which the water most cases flow together in a circular arc.
Wirhatten to see the falls in two totally different states of happiness! The first day was a bit cloudy and the water flow would be moderate, on the second day when the sun they are almost overflowed because of the rain in northern Brazil.
Here the Iguazu river almost without water:
And here is the torrent of water the next day:
Thank God we did on the first day the crossing to the island of San Martin to the cases close to see, on the second day she was in fact closed because of high water.
While I was doing it on the second day, I did not make the optional navigation because the boat is not hard to get close to the falls because of the water masses.
Without a doubt the most impressive views of the Garganta del Diablo has, here overthrow the water masses with such force in the depth that it is really wet from the drizzle!
The Iguazu Falls are a must if you are traveling in Argentina or Brazil, more reasons to visit their place in the next few pages!
Fitz Roy and El Chalten
El Chalten, Anreise
With just 600 inhabitants, one should not believe that El Chalten is one of the most visited destinations Argentina and thus fixed point on my world trip. Squire 3.5 hours by bus from El Calafate, due to the unique landscape and belonging to the family of llamas guanacos (standing on the side of the road) go by very fast, you then arrives in the capital hikers.
Fitz Roy
The best view of the Cerro Fitz Roy, who is the highest mountain in the area of 3405 m, we got on Ankuftstag from the village, because after that we had to get used to the stormy clouds and polluted air of the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares.
The National Park and its routes
In the National Park Los Glaciares There are about 8 Haupttreckingrouten, all of which consist of about 1 meter wide roads, making it impossible to get lost and no guide is necessary.
DC in the afternoon we went despite the extremely high wind force on the 1,5 hours Laguna Capri to get a better look at the Fitz Roy massif. Even the way out from the observable landscape around the Rio de las Vueltas is breathtaking.
Unfortunately, thick clouds have covered the summit of Fitz Roy then in Laguna, but the hike was worth in any case.
The next day we went on to the Lago del Pliege Tumbado to have from there the only panoramic views of all the surrounding mountains. Strenuous 3.5 hours later, passing viewpoints of the Lago Viedma, it was done: Although somewhat cloudy and very windy again, the view of the Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre and Cerro Solo was second to none! You could also see the Laguna Torre of the glacier.
Even though you should be prepared for all weather conditions, El Chalten is undoubtedly the Treckinghauptstadt Argentina.
Perito Moreno Glacier El Calafate und
Thank God in El Calafate we had better luck with our accommodation, a homely bed and breakfast quite to our liking! From there we booked then also the trip for the next day. On the way to the glacier Perito Moreno convinced us of the vastness of Patagonia.
We also paid a typical farm, a so-called Estancia a visit and say there as formerly, the animals were kept and then as they were grilled for dinner, the typical dish is cooked a la parilla yes!
The Perito Moreno is one of the easiest-reach glaciers in the world, so to see him on the day and about 3000 people.
Also this is one of the most dynamic Eisriese the world, he has a growth of 2 meters per day, of which we were able to convince several chunks of ice fall itself. It is the speed with which overthrow the gigantic ruins in the depth and cause a noise like thunder.
Then we made even watch a short boat ride to the ice wall of the glacier Perito Moreno still from 300 meters away.
El Calafate is so satisfied with the starting point of all trips to the glacier and a nice little village with the infrastructure needs as a tourist. It is situated on Lago Argentino, the 1600 km2 largest lake in the country, where walk in the lagoon different animals, among others flamingos.
