Map World Travel Australia

Australia, the real reason for my RTW trip 😉

For me as a travel enthusiasts Australia is of course always been a dream destination, but since the flight is very expensive and I usually got most only 2.5 weeks holiday, I probably had some time off for a trip around the world take care of this special continent to meet people!

Here we go on the Great Barrier Reef, let's see what the underwater world will bear here, one hears rumors that the corals are already dead there in many places due to the high tourist volume. We continue in Australia then on the Sunshine Coast to Sydney to visit friends there. The next goal is then Melbourne, where I am also on a reunion with old friends. I hope it is then a short trip to Tasmania from an island which also has scenic certainly much to offer except the Tasmanian Devil extremely rare.

Then I will hike on the Great Ocean Road in Australia and visit the Grampians to spot there kangaroos and koalas.

The next stop will be Adelaide to meet a former roommate before I will probably face one of the most exciting activities of my trip: Diving with the Great White Shark in Port Lincoln, of course with the cage!

To finish off, I will cross the red continent in the center. In the outback the following sights will be visited: Ayers Rock (Uluru), the Olgas, Coober Pedy and Alice Springs. I hope to enjoy the impressive range of colors at sunrise and sunset at Ayers Rock.

Since my flight to Bali is then booked from Darwin, I'll decide according to the remaining time about whether to go to the Kakadu National Park to see some crocodiles.

The small town Port Douglas the bill perfectly and I also made a Day trip to the Great Barrier Reef and discovered on the way to the supermarket two Pythons, On a side trip after Cairns I went snorkeling on the Fitzroy Island

Infrastructure and food in Australia

Down Under is of course a highly developed country and one might think that here the public transport is not a problem, but there are, for example, on the east coast only two bus companies: GreyhoundWho have more modern buses have several departures per day and Wi-Fi advertise that never works and Premier Motor ServiceWhich usually have only one bus per day, but it is a lot cheaper.

For many destinations, it is almost impossible added by public means of transport and day trips cost an average of 100 euros or more. The reason is that most Australians already have a private car and also many tourists rent one.

This we have then done on the Great Ocean Road with the very cheap ACE Rentals and in the outback with a super offer with unlimited number of miles over Discover Central Australia.

In view of the accommodation there are countless ways, most do not come cheap. Especially on the East Coast accumulate the cheap backpacker hostels, which are full of young party people tourists. I have therefore always tried to YHAs to stay, since at least a certain standard is guaranteed and they are generally safer.

The food in Australia is almost excellent everywhere: Fresh and tasty ingredients and good service in restaurants.

The Australian

For many, Australia is at first sight "perfect world". The inhabitants have great jobs, earn very good, drive big cars and have a good time. Throughout the whole year in good climate.

But of course you can not say that so sweeping, finally we speak but of an entire continent! So while you meet on the East Cost over-friendly Sunny Boys and Girls, one has the impression that Sydney is full of workaholics in Melbourne is the center of Foodies and while in Tasmania, the clocks are stopped in the last century, you are in the Northern Territory still very far from having the integration of Aboriginal people under control.

In general, the Australians are a friendly and courteous people that avoids conflicts of what makes it particularly easy to travel on the red continent.

Unfortunately Down Under is really huge and two months ranging far to see not the whole country. Anyway, will probably at least another travel be necessary to have to visit Western Australia and snorkel there with the whale sharks! Well, maybe then on the next trip around the world 😉
