In the Grampians between rocks and kangaroos

The national park is located in Victoria, about 3 hours drive from Melbourne on the go. The first time on my trip around the world for a rental car was necessary, thank goodness I was only passenger 😉

The Grampians with its unique rock formations of sandstone are to observe a popular destination for hikers and the perfect place to kangaroos up close. They expected us already in the front yard of our hostel! (The caravan was not our hostel 😉 !!)

Some of the viewpoints are easily accessible by car in one day reach, necessarily but you should still take a short walk. Said and done!

We have for a 5 hour hike to the "Pinnacles" (tips) decided. Thankfully, the trails are very clearly labeled here as well as elsewhere in Australia, otherwise you would easily get lost here in the rock formations.

Other mandatory items are the Rees Lookout, The Balconies and Boroka Lookout from where you can watch the entire environment. Finally, we made a detour to Lake Fyans to enjoy the evening sun. The Grampians are certainly a very romantic destination with stunning scenery!

Sydney CBD & Bondi Beach

Sydney, the business capital of Australia

With 4.5 million inhabitants, Sydney is probably the unofficial capital of Australia. Located in the region of New South Wales, you can expect throughout the year with pleasant temperatures here. In contrast to the eternal Rival city of Melbourne in my opinion, is characterized more by cultural aspects, one can see here the city center as a small Manhattan.

Almost around the clock you see here in front of stressed business and after work and during the lunch break in her sneakers in the gym haul to ask then at the weekend their toned body in a peri-urban beaches on display.

The two most famous attractions are the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge can be seen from different angles.

The opera, which represent sail, was designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon. The construction was preparing many headaches, as this was started without first knowing exactly how the arches of the roof can be implemented.

Highly recommended is the view from the tower of the Harbour Bridge, just before sunset lit here, the architectural masterpiece. Also good to watch are the significantly lower building in Vordergrung. The district "The Rocks" was built by the first settlers.

Other highlights in the CBD are the State Library and the Art Gallery of NSW.

My new sneakers fit in any case perfectly to modern art 😉

The green lung of Sydney are the botanical gardens are perfectly maintained and many a manager keeps his siesta.

Also, some animal residents have settled in and around the gardens.

Bondi Beach

The most famous beach is Sydney's Bondi Beach surfers paradise, here take Reich & Well, Backpackers and Sufers each other, also you should definitely make the beach walk along the coast. If you are lucky as we can see alongside the surfers and dolphins!

Around Sydney there are many more trails to enjoy the coastal scenery. With great weather we have completed the section from Spit to Manly!

Sydney is not only a duty point in each world travel, you should also take at least a week to explore the area!

Hobart & MONA

Tasmania's capital Hobart

Hobart is 212,000 inhabitants, the capital of Tasmania, hereby where around 40 percent of the total population of the island. Most older buildings recall the time when the first Europeans settled here.

Every Saturday the famous Salamanca Market is held where you can buy products and food from around Tasmania here.

The only international flight of Hobart connects with the rest of the world, flying to Antarctica. Due to the geographical proximity of the australiansche icebreaker is also stationed here, who this summer released a fixed sit-down Russian tour group.

The Tasman Bridge connects some of the suburbs to the center of Hobart. 1975 pushed a cargo ship against some pillars and the bridge collapsed partially. The repair lasted 2 years and was more expensive than the construction of the original bridge. For many commuters, this meant a daily detour of 50 km to go to work in the center.

The mountain is Mt Wellington Hobart, which is actually only 1270 m high. Riddled with hiking trails, it is the ideal destination. Although it's almost snowing when I began my descent, the weather changed as often happens to Tasmania, so I could enjoy the view of the capital.

MONA, the Museum of Australia teueste

The relatively new star of Tasmania is the MONA (Museum of Old & New Art), whose construction has cost 75 million dollars and very peculiar and special works of art houses, which very often shock the visitors and fascinated at the same time.

Port Arthur

Port Arthur - Visiting in prison

Historically the most interesting place in Tasmania's Port Arthur, where once a large prison was built.

But on the way there is a lot to discover! The coast around the Pirates Bay is very spectacular, here are wind and water conjured this arch in the rock, which is now Tasman Arch called.

Leutnand George Arthur decided around here a kind of open prison colony to build, since the peninsula with the rest of Tasmania's only through a 100 m long strip of land (Eaglehawk Neck) is connected, which was heavily guarded by dogs.

From 1830 to 1877 thus were here 12,500 prisoners from their sentences and had to work hard as a lumberjack, ship-builder, a miner, working in the brick-making and leather processing.

Prevailing at that time in England laws were very strict and so many people were convicted and sent overseas by ship due to relatively small crimes like stealing bread.

Thus, Port Arthur was for many years a fully functioning village where even the employees of the prison with their families lived, so it was only normal houses and other infrastructure such as churches etc.

Nowadays, you can visit here trailing cells, particularly scary is the punishment cell which is absolutely dark and soundproof.

1996 Port Arthur became the scene of one of the worst school shootings in Australia's history when the then 28-year-old Martin Bryant suddenly a gun from his gym bag pulls out and opened fire indiscriminately on people in the canteen and then flees to a nearby guesthouse. Within hours, he kills 35 people and wounded another 37 before it can be caught by the police.

Port Arthur is undoubtedly one of the most important places in the history of Tasmania, since many convicts were given after settling the fine country and they were located here. Anyway, a must-see and who can already say with a clear conscience that he was in prison already!

On the way back we took a detour to RichmondWhere the oldest church and bridge in Australia can be found.

Tasmanian Devil!

Experience the Tasmanian Devil in Tasmania Devil Conservation Park very close!

In a day trip from Hobart we went to the former prison area of Port Arthur. This tour is optional visit to the Tasmanien Devil Conservation Park offered to you should definitely make!

Tasmanian devils are really very special animals.

In contrast to the rest of the body very large head with countless scars and the hunchback back are just really not a pretty sight! The more exciting it was to könnnen experience as close to these rare animals!

Although they actually are nocturnal, they ran wild all the time in the pen around and keiften at each other.

Worse was the whole as they were fed and they were fighting for the seizure. I think that in the photos more as it becomes clear why they were then called by the early European settlers devil. But you have a fair way to be said that the nurse said that while he spends a lot of time to separate the brawlers themselves but have never been attacked by them.

In the end we had to cater for the Kangaroos, the stuffed ourselves literally out of hand! And in this size, they're also really cute !!

Cradle Mountain Nationalpark

Cradle Mountain – das wilde Tasmanien

The Cradle Mountain National Park is the starting point of the 60 km long Overland Tracks. Due to time constraints I had to take only a day trip, which is also despite the rain recommended in any case.

From Launceston we were off up to the National Park where we around a 3 hour hike to Lake Dove made.

Due to the thick cloud cover and the constant rain we have not seen the actual peaks of Cradle Mountain, but what about the most rainfall in Tasmania quite normal in this region.

Nevertheless, the fall is the best season to see the area first because fewer tourists are traveling and secondly offer the colors of the deciduous trees a nice contrast to the gray rocks.

The establishment of the Cradle Mountain National Park was way after years of development work by the Austrian Gustav Weindorfer. Here the boat house on Lake Dove that he had built.

As a botanist wine villages met his Tasmanian woman in Australia know and was impressed by the scenery at Cradle Mountain so that he decided in short here to build a mountain hut to attract visitors.

Wineglass Bay @ Freycinet Nationalpark

Wineglass Bay – Tasmaniens Highlight!

The south of the Australian mainland Tasmania preferred nowadays only 500,000 inhabitants, living from 40% in the capital Hobart.

The island was discovered by the Dutchman Abel Tasman and the first European inhabitants were begeitet of convicts who were employed as workers for the construction. In 1850, every second inhabitant of Tasmania was a convict!

Nowadays, the whole thing is history and the main attraction for tourists from all over the world is the stunning scenery of Tasmania! The Freycinet Nationalpark with the Wineglass Bay is one of the most beautiful in Australia.

On the way there are the vineyards, which are mainly to be found here on the east coast due to the milder climate.

Autumn is probably a good time of year to Tasmania to visit alone if only because we were the only bus in the parking lot 😉 And even with some cloud cover, we were thus able to enjoy the view of the perfectly shaped bay.

Even if the Wineglass Bay is the flagship of the park, I personally found the coast at the Sleepy Bay much unique!

Here the wind formed in soft rock caves that can be visited with some skill.

Really stunning and is definitely worth a visit Honeymoon Bay with the mountains "The Hazards" in the background.

On the way you meet again and again to animal companions like here on a wallaby, almost a kangaroo in miniature design that is sympathetic to me in any case as his relatives in! 😉

On the way to Launceston, the tour then made a detour into the really sleepy village of Ross, the bridge was built by former convicts.

The Freycinet National Park with the Wineglass Bay should definitely be on every Tasmanienreise, ideally one should here be better to rent a car to explore in more detail at the park.

Cape Schanck Nationalpark & Mornington Peninsula

The Mornington Peninsula is just about 1 hour drive from Melbourne and is with its steep coasts highly recommended.

With this glorious weather we headed to explore the portion around Bushrangersbay and Cape Schanck.

After a few steps I discovered on a meadow a kangaroo, that we had already discovered. In this environment, the gray kangaroos are able to achieve which up to 1.80 cm in height at home.

When we annäherten us to about 2 m high fence, came to our big surprise equal a lot more of the marsupials to the fore!

And they all stopped to browse, stood on his hind legs and stared at us fix. Well, even though I had the Kangaroos always as sweet little animals in memory, it resembled probably a scene from Jurassic Park where the dinosaurs were disturbed while eating 😉 Alan just said that we are protected by the imaginary for the cows fence, a fallacy like us but later the lighthouse warden said.

The kangaroos are seen by the farmers here rather as a plague, they graze on pasture and destroy the fences although they also can easily jump over it ....

Well it went on, without really meet other tourists to the unique Bushrangers Bay of the beach you can have a good view of the surrounding cliff has and is ideal for a picnic.

Then there were still a few miles to Cape Schanck where the lighthouse is located. Here the brown tones of the rocks mix with the roaring water.

Now only was more the way back to deal with and so we were done according to the total of almost 14 km very nice, but very happy, after all, who gets so many kangaroos in the wild to see so close! Thus, another duty point was met on my trip around the world!

Noosa

Noosa, the green coastline spot of the east coast!

The main attraction of swimming and surfing town of Noosa National Parks, a small forest of nice hiking trails, also along the coast. Here you can not only watch the dolphins from the shore, but also enjoy beautiful sunsets.

But even outside of the park you can leisurely stroll along the lagoon and watch near de mangrove divere birds. The stars are but certainly the pelicans of which there are countless.

One discovers again and again new plants in unbgewohnten of us dimensions, as this giant tree.

Subheadings to Noosa tourists come and especially from all over Australia. Also for a weekend break from from Brisbane, 1.5 hours away, the little village is very popular. Here countless luxury villas built right on the lagoon, some can only halt but anyway afford a house boat.

The view from the vantage point is already here as the village was built in the middle of the woods and even though part was obtained as a National Park, it is of course questionable Auswirklungen which had the construction here on the environment.

Anyway, the green Noosa was in the tour without überalla to get there a nice change.
