Te Anau
Te Anau is a small town in the south in New Zealand's Fiordland region and the starting point of some very famous and beautiful hiking trails.
Te Anau really provides an infrastructure with everything your heart desires Wanderer: Supermarkets with special food for athletes, hiking shops with all imaginable and unimaginable equipment and supplies, nice cafe bars and affordable hostels.
On the shores of Lake Te Anau is a great place for a walk along and relax or be on your way to the tourist office to pick up tickets for each hike.
The Milford Track
This 4-day hike is among the finest in the world and was certainly a highlight of my trip around the world, which is obviously very subjective, so best you make yourselves a picture of them in the next article and then decide!
Since the Ministry of Environmental Protection of New Zealand, the number of hikers limited to 40 per day, I already had the Milford track about half a year in advance to make a reservation buchen.Hier both the outward and transport by bus and boat to the trail as well as the nights in
The 53 km in 4 days to hike is not the only challenge, the real problem for me was to keep my backpack as light as possible. But that's not so easy when you consider that you can except the sleeping bag still has to lug food for 4 days and no dish is placed on the cottages available! Furthermore, the area is known for its heavy rainfall so you should be prepared for this.
Thank goodness my taste Asian Instant Noodle, as these have the least weight, yet also had trail mix, granola bars, chocolate, apples, whole wheat bread, ham, cheese, tea bags, biscuits and Crecker with the luggage.
To my great astonishment, my backpack was by far the smallest of the entire round and then I still had some of the hiking team to help out with useful items such as lighter, flashlight, sunscreen, bug spray and allergy pills!
It was again quite nice for a few days to be completed from the outside world, but I was quite happy to have electricity and hot water after 4 days again!
